5 Takeaways From The 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards

Bia had no problem clapping back at her haters.

The 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards was everything it was hyped up to be and more with breakout performances from Latto, Smino, Nelly and more. The 85 South were hilarious as usual with their skits — including a Soulja Boy impression —  and the presenters, like Remy Ma and Trina, turned heads with their eye-popping outfits.

With the award show wrapped up, people have been reveling in the excitement about the performances, outfits and breakout stars. With too many to count, we’ve narrowed down what some of the discussion has been in the aftermath following the biggest night in hip hop.

  1. Bia Bites Back

Following Bia’s performance of “Whole Lotta Money” and “Bia’ Bia’” with Lil Jon last Tuesday night. she received some criticism for the lack of stage production.

Well, the Medford, Massachusetts native had time, responding to some of the critiques online.

“It’s giving I wish it was me lol,” she wrote on Twitter. “One thing about me…I’m always gonna stay grateful, and perfect my craft. Thanks for the constructive criticism! I take it all in and come back harder next time.”

She added, “Y’all are really weird and jealous of other peoples success and I hate that for y’all.”

  2. Tobe Nwigwe Is Great

The BET Hip Hop Awards is a great platform and opportunity to raise your stock as an artist, which is exactly what Houston rapper, Tobe Nwigwe did on Tuesday, performing "Fye Fye" with his wife, Fat, and producer, Nel

Full choir, choreography and all, you could feel the energy through the screen in what was one of the best performances of the night.

  3. Kidd Kenn Is Up Next

Kidd Kenn’s performance during the Hip Hop Award’s “Digital Cypher” was another performance that moved the needle as far as recognition.

The Chicago rapper not only came with the eclectic blue hair but spit a hot verse that had the internet buzzing afterward.

  4. Remy Ma Was The Moment

Chatter following the award night also included rapper Remy Ma, who turned heads with her risqué outfit.

Escorted in with her husband and fellow rapper Papoose, Remy did not come to play.  Outfitted in a cut-out Danthony Designz red dress and gold strappy heels, with ankle-length, a jet-black wig to match, it was hard for her not to steal the show

  5. Paul Wall’s Still Got It

Although he only was on stage to spit his verse from “Grillz”, his iconic feature had both the crowd rocking and the internet buzzing.

I guess it’s good to see our favorite white boy from Texas still doing well.
