Dr. Jan Adams, the plastic surgeon who operated on rapper Kanye West’s mother before she died, will spend the next year in jail on a drunk driving rap.

Adams pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor DUI charge last year. When Adams was arrested in late June, police said that he was driving the wrong way on Interstate 680 (between Sacramento and San Francisco) and that his blood alcohol level was .20 percent.

Solano County Court Commissioner Ray Wieser sentenced the 54-year-old, high-profile physician on Monday.

Adams, who performed a breast reduction, tummy tuck and liposuction on Donda West a day before she died in 2007, will get credit for the eight days he already served. According to the autopsy, Donda died from heart disease and complications from the surgery.
