They say not all heroes wear capes, but they certainly do wear designer labels.

On Monday, Jerad Kluting, of Holland Township, Mich., was walking down the street with his $1,700 Louis Vuitton bag when an armed robber approached him, reported WOOD-TV.

Although the robber fired several warning shots while demand the 21-year-old hand over his bag, Kluting resisted.

  • "It happened very fast. In one motion he took the gun out of his waist belt and with the other hand put up a bandana over his mouth and pointed, was like, ‘Give me your bag,'” Kluting told WOOD-TV. "I was like, ‘You’re not getting my Louis Vuitton.' I worked very hard for this and this bag I’ve had forever and it means a lot to me. I wasn’t about ready to relinquish it to some thug that was going to demand it from me.”

Kluting said he worked hard for the bag and was not going to hand it over, despite being threatened with a gun.

"I paid $1,700 for it or thereabouts. … I love Louis Vuitton and I saw this bag long before I could buy it and I saved up my money to buy it,” Kluting said. "It means a lot to me. … It represents me. I wasn’t about to relinquish my personal property.”

  • While police never encourage people to hang on to possessions during an armed robbery, many think Kluting did what needed to be done

  • Instantly, there were calls to make Kluting a new Marvel hero

In the end, police were able to locate and arrest a suspect. Although his life was in danger, Kluting has no regrets.

"I got my bag,” Kluting said. "He can pry it out of my cold dead hands."
