People Are Dragging Rachel Dolezal for Lecturing Black Students in South Africa About the Hardships of Being 'Trans-Black'

Attendants appeared unimpressed by her struggle.

Just when we thought the offensive and twisted story of Rachel Dolezal could not get any worse, the self-proclaimed "trans-racial" 39-year-old has taken her story to the motherland.

Dolezal, who most recently assumed the Nigerian name Nkechi Amare Diallo, traveled to South Africa earlier this week to lecture students on Black experiences.

While speaking with students at the University of Johannesburg, Dolezal attempted to give insight to her experiences as a non-Black woman who believes she is Black.

"I still identify as Black… maybe trans-black is a good compromise because it identifies that I was born to white parents but have an authentic Black identity," Dolezal said to a room full of students who shook their heads in disbelief.

Given the political and social oppression Blacks have felt and continue to feel in South Africa, Dolezal's lecture was not only inappropriate, but appeared to be a white, privileged smack in the face.

One attendee of the lecture comprised of mainly Black students asked Dolezal, "What are your daily experiences as a Black person? Is it wearing braids, what is it?"

  • For South Africans on Twitter, there appeared to be a strong desire for America to reclaim our 'race-faker'

  • Some could not help but laugh at the idea of Dolezal explaining Black identity to Africans

  • Moreover, of all the issues facing South Africa, Dolezal is not the one who will fix racial tensions in the country
