Twitter Reacts With Outrage Over Liam Neeson’s Racist Comment About Killing ‘Black Bastards’

The "Taken" actor made the shocking confession while promoting his latest film.

Hollywood star Liam Neeson recently made some surprising comments that many say showed his knowledge of his privilege as he chose to make these bold remarks while promoting his latest film.

According to the Independent, while promoting his new movie, Cold Pursuit, at a press junket, Neeson admitted that he used to daydream about murdering Black men after a friend claimed she was raped by a Black man.

"She handled the situation of the rape in the most extraordinary way," he said during the interview. "But my immediate reaction was... did she know who it was? No. What color were they? She said it was a Black person."

After sharing the once private story with the publication, the actor then opened up about walking the streets with a weapon for days with the sole intent of killing a "Black bastard" after his friend related the incident to him.

"I went up and down areas with a cosh, hoping I'd be approached by somebody," he continued. "I'm ashamed to say that, and I did it for maybe a week — hoping some [he gestures air quotes with his fingers] 'Black bastard' would come out of a pub and have a go at me about something, you know? So that I could kill him."

The Non-Stop star said it took him about a week and a half to process his bizarre actions.

"It was horrible, horrible, when I think back, that I did that," he said. "And I've never admitted that, and I'm saying it to a journalist. God forbid... It's awful, but I did learn a lesson from it, when I eventually thought, 'What the f**k are you doing?' you know?"

Incredibly bothered by his confession and his comfortability in sharing such a polarizing past memory while trying to get the public to rally behind his most recent work, several folks took to Twitter to share why his words were incredibly problematic.
