Irv Gotti Urges Birdman To 'Just Pay' Lil Wayne

The rap mogul weighs in on the Cash Money legal battle.

The seemingly never-ending legal battle between Lil Wayne and Birdman is notable for its many surprising twists and turns. And it appears as though the saga it has developed into has even conjured the concern of Irv Gotti

During a recent sit down with Complex, the rap mogul joined the hosts of Everyday Struggle to dish on the forthcoming season of his new series Tales as well as share his thoughts on the current music landscape. While Irv discussed everything from the art of a music deal to the growing competition between streaming services, the conversation quickly turned to Lil Wayne and Birdman's troubling legal woes. "I know Birdman and I like Birdman," Irv began before making his appeal. "I love Birdman and Slim. Like, personally, I really like those guys."

"But, I don't get the Weezy and Birdman thing," he continued. "You say this guy is your son. You've know this guy forever. You should work that out. Just pay him, man. Just pay him. He deserves it. Not only did he put Cash Money Records on his back for all them years, he brought you f**king Nicki [Minaj] and Drake."

Back in July, Weezy slammed Birdman with an amended petition that requested the Cash Money co-founder fork over $40 million in damages. According to the Hollywood Reporterthe "Money on My Mind" rapper is accusing both parties of working in collusion and has requested partial ownership as well as profits from Nicki Minaj's and Drake's catalogs.
