Nicki Minaj Sent Cardi B This Text Message That Deserves A Round Of Applause

The "Queen" rapstress took a noble initiative.

No social media showdown is strong enough to stop the force behind Nicki Minaj, and just hours after she and her ex-boyfriend Safaree exploded the internet with a fiery war of words on Tuesday (August 14), the Queen femcee sat pretty front of a live, Barbie Army audience for Elliot Wilson’s “CRWN” interview series.

Undoubtedly, fans were slobbering at the mouth for any tea Nicki was willing to pour regarding the digital brawl. She never got around to that.  Instead, Nicki dished on a few other pressing subject matters that kept the Barbs teacups full, like her current relationship status with Bronx female rapper Cardi B, a word (or verse, rather) for rap rival Remy Ma, her stance on the proposed competition in the femcee circle, and a moment between her rumored ex-boo Nas that’s swept fans off of their feet.

  • Nicki started off by revisiting the ‘MotorSport’ friction involving the Migos clique and Cardi

Back in April, Nicki explained how Quavo and the Invasion of Privacy femcee’s decision to remain tight-lipped on the truth hit a sore spot for her, especially as Nicki name-dragging rumors flew around. She revealed to Elliott that the Migos member eventually apologized, but he was the only one who did. Not that it bothered her, she clarified.

  • She also shared her side of that Cardi’s run-in at the Met Gala following the ‘MotorSport’ controversy

The ladies were able to chop things up peacefully or have a “great talk,” as Nicki put it, at the event, a conversation shown in viral pictures of the two femcees speaking face to face.

Cardi later revealed that there was a simple misunderstanding, and the Met Gala run-in afforded them both the opportunity to clear it up. Nicki added to that sentiment, explaining to Wilson that they promised each other to never feed into anymore “bullsh**” from that day forth. “However, it’s always some sh** happening,” Nicki said. “Always some shit being said and being done, and I just don’t understand.”

The “LLC” rapper was happy to see how Cardi handled her first post-Met Gala interview regarding a question about their confrontation afterward, too. She even sent the “Bodak Yellow” star a text message complimenting her interview savvy and applauding her for handling it like a true queen.

As for her lyrical scrapping with Remy, however, Nicki wouldn’t say that she “engaged” in a beef. All she had to say, or spit, to that topic was a verse that (reportedly) catalyzed the discord between them: her feature guest bars of Gucci Mane’s “Make Love.” After rapping just a few bars from the verse, the crowd helped her it away.

  • The ‘Queen’ artist also dropped some gems on the state of femcee competition

“I think people use that word ‘competition’ loosely,” Nicki explained. She actually feels that those claims that she had no competition during her industry tenure is insulting to the other emerging and established female rappers roughly over the last decade.

“Because there’s always been great female rappers in the industry and it’s not right to say that,” she added. “Having a big push from a label does not make you great, and to me doesn’t mean you’re my competition or you’re not my competition.”

  • In one of the juiciest moments for fans, Nicki opened up about the ‘Sorry’ track that didn’t make the ‘Queen’ cut with Nas too…

It was only right that they pen verses about each other, Nicki revealed of her conversation with him about the track. She never directly addressed the dating, or breakup, rumors flooding the grapevine. Nicki did give more insight into that spontaneous photo shoot that helped ignite the bae-dom rumors, though.

“He was like, you know, sweating the kid,” she said when she pulled up on him. Nas asked her to accompany him while he picked up the customized “Illmatic” Mercedes-Benz whip that also made a debut in their shoot. “And I was like, ‘What’s good, zaddy?’” she playfully boasted on stage.
