Juice WRLD’s Music Takes Over Streaming Platforms

Juice WRLD tragically passed away this Sunday. He was just 21.

Following the untimely death of 21-year-old Juice WRLD, the late rapper’s streaming numbers have spiked by 487% this past weekend.

  • The Chicagoan’s passing has weighed heavily on the hearts of many, who found comfort in the rap wunderkind’s emotionally raw, genre-blending records. In a testament to the number of hearts that Juice WRLD’s music touched, the rapper’s streaming numbers dramatically spiked over the weekend as fans took solace in what were some of his final musical words in commemoration of his legacy.

  • According to a report published on Variety.com on Wednesday (Dec. 11), Juice WRLD was the most-streamed artist in the U.S. after his discography crossed more than 38 million streams across multiple platforms on Sunday (Dec. 9). That’s nearly 24 million more than any other artist received that same day.

The late rapper’s music took over streaming platforms as four of his songs re-entered the top 10 on Apple Music and Spotify, and the top three spots on Amazon's Movers and Shakers list. His breakthrough chart-topper, “Lucid Dreams,” was the most-streamed song of the day with more than 4.4 million plays and 3,000 digital downloads, followed by “Legends” (with 3.1 million streams and 1,700 digital downloads), “Robbery” and “All Girls Are the Same.

  • Additionally, his albums did big numbers as well. Juice WRLD’s acclaimed debut album, Goodbye & Good Riddance, moved 13,000 units on the same day of his passing. His follow-up EP, Deathrace for Love, was the second-best-selling record with over 10,300 units sold.

  • Fan and industry peers alike were rocked by the somber news after Juice WRLD tragically passed away from a reported seizure he’d suffered at Chicago’s Midway Airport on Sunday (Dec. 8). Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate the 21-year-old, but he was pronounced dead shortly after he was transported to a nearby hospital.
