Ariana Grande and Jessie J to Remake 'The Boy Is Mine'

The song's original writer, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins reveals plans for a special project featuring the "Bang Bang" singers.

The 1998 Grammy-winning classic "The Boy Is Mine" is getting a modern remake, according to the song's writer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins. He's enlisted "Bang Bang" collaborators Ariana Grande and Jessie J to join him at the helm.

Speaking with Hits Daily Double, Jerkins revealed that he is currently working on a special project that will see him release some original music as well as a few older classics remade by some of today's modern chart-toppers.

"Next year is my 20-year anniversary and I'm doing a very special project," he said. "Some originals as well as re-imagined hits. So for example, I'll do the 'The Boy Is Mine' with Ariana and Jessie J."

Sam Smith, another of today's hottest acts, is also set to appear on the LP remaking the Whitney Houston classic "It's Not Right But It's Okay," which Smith deems as the song that made him want to sing.

To date, the Brandy and Monica smash has sold more than three million copies in the U.S. alone and spent a whopping 13 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 during the summer of 1998, so it's pretty safe to say that Ariana and Jessie have some big shoes to fill.
