Have strong opinions about sex, race, religious affiliation, or gender identity? Too bad, because no one wants to hear it, especially Facebook.
Listed below are just some of the many opinions you better not voice on Facebook because the social media giant is cracking down on internet bullies, and the offense can get you sent to Facebook jail or better yet, banned!
Recently, Facebook has been actively moderating comments and promptly suspending users’ accounts for posting mean comments.
The Daily Beast reported that Facebook has been placing those who post comments like “men are scum” in Facebook jail and continues to remove comments like “men ain’t shit,” “all men are ugly” and “all men are allegedly ugly.”
According to leaked training documents, the list of Facebook's “protected categories” are sex, race, religious affiliation, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, and serious disability or disease.
Comedian Rae Sanni recently decided to post a long Twitter thread giving the tea about Marcia Belsky, a woman banned from Facebook for 30 days after posting “men are scum” on a friend’s post. It was quite interesting.
We also can't help but mention Facebook's “unprotected categories” include: social class, occupation, continental origin, political ideology, appearance, religion, age, or country.
A Facebook spokesperson told The Daily Beast that they will “look at ways to apply our policies in a more granular way, for instance to take into account the history of oppression with different genders and ethnicities, etc. when reviewing posts. But we are a global platform.”
Things that make you say hmm...
