Meghan Markle Renews The Trademark For Her Retired Blog ‘The Tig’

The Duchess of Sussex stopped posting on the lifestyle, travel and fashion blog when she became a royal.

For those who may not know, before marrying Prince Harry and being adorned with the Duchess of Sussex title, Meghan Markle was not only a successful actress, but also a personal lifestyle blogger who often shared her love for travel, food, and fashion.

Keeping that in mind, you can only imagine how excited we were when news surfaced that 38-year-old’s business manager Andrew Meyer recently renewed the trademark for the Duchess’ now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig, until 2021.

Let’s be honest, we’re all eager to get personal insight on living life royal! So, could The Tig be making a royal reappearance anytime soon? Not likely.

A palace spokesperson crushed our dreams, revealing there are “absolutely no plans to relaunch The Tig.”

“The lasting trademark is to prevent false branding, to avoid others purporting to be the Duchess or affiliated with her,” the spokesperson told People Magazine about the blog the Duchess started in 2014 but discontinued in 2017 to focus on her blooming relationship with her Prince Charming.

Well, that's a dream deferred, along with the speculation that the new mom could be working on a motherhood blog called Tigtots after it was also trademarked.

We guess Meghan closed that chapter when she posted this message to her loyal followers on The Tig:

“After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it’s time to say goodbye to The Tig,” Meghan wrote on her blog, whose name was inspired by the Italian wine Tignanello.

“What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity. You’ve made my days brighter and filled this experience with so much joy. Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world.’ Above all, don’t ever forget your worth – as I’ve told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough. Thank you for everything.”

Too bad. We would have loved to read a lifestyle blog with a royal twist!
