Jagged Edge And 112 Scheduled For Memorial Day Verzuz R&B Battle
It’s official! After much speculation and prodding from fans, Swizz Beatz returned to social media on Thursday night (May 21) to confirm that 112 and Jagged Edge are stepping into the Verzuz arena. And, it’s happening much sooner than fans anticipated!
The celebrated producer unveiled the match up via Instagram. Billed “Something For The Ladies” (sorry fellas!), the match is happening on Memorial Day evening, Monday, May 25, at 8 p.m.. ET.
“Breaking News. Just added to the Memorial Day Weekend madness,” wrote Swizz alongside the announcement. “[Timbaland], it’s a busy long weekend.”
Swizz and Timberland first hinted at the possibility of pairing up the two R&B groups after they called upon So So Def mogul Jermaine Dupri to see if there was anything he could do to convince the guys during a recent IG Live session.
“Can you make that happen, JD? A lot of people say what they want to see but can you pick up the phone and make that happen?” Swizz asked him in the video. “I would love to see Jagged Edge vs. 112.”
Timbo added, “Come on now. Don’t play no games.”
This announcement comes just hours after Swizz and Timb revealed a dancehall showdown between Beenie Man and Bounty Killer scheduled for this Saturday, May 23, at 8 p.m. ET.
