With news of Andrew Gillum, Stacey Abrams and Ben Jealous' political success, it's clear that more and more African-Americans are fighting for their voices to be heard through political office.

One of the more recent Black candidates to come forward is Minnesota native Kyle Greene. Unlike the other politicians mentioned, Greene decided to use one of the most controversial words in Black culture to help raise awareness about his campaign.

Greene, an organic farmer, created a seemingly normal campaign video until he boldly proclaimed, "I want to be your state representative, I want to be your public servant and I want to be your n*gger."

After garnering a slew of backlash online and being dubbed "Donkey of the Day" by Charlamagne Tha God, Green, who is an independent, opened up about his use of the n-word during an interview with the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "We need to unify as a society, and we need to stop dealing with trivial matter."

According to Greene, the n-word is "part of the American history, regardless of the race... It's part of my history being African-American, white and Cherokee Indian."
