Retirement hasn’t slowed Serena Williams down at all. The tennis great recently opened up about how she remained booked and busy even though she isn’t competing professionally.
On December 2, Williams chopped it up with the PEOPLE Every Day podcast about life after tennis.
The 41-year-old woman also talked about her new fragrance collab with Lincoln Motor Company. She admitted that even though she had officially retired– Williams “was literally working the next day.”
"I will take a break eventually," she said. "But I needed to keep going 'cause I just needed to not think. If you do something for your entire life, your whole journey, and your whole life is this one thing– and it's done, then it could be a very abrupt stop. I just didn't wanna do that."
Williams maintained that she will eventually fall back from working eventually, but she needed time.
"I feel like one day I'm gonna stop and, you know, just reflect and just think about the memories," she said. "But I just haven't done that yet."
