Usher’s influence on the music industry is undeniable and can be seen in R&B stars including, 2020 Soul Train Awards winner Chris Brown, Trey Songz, and even a newer generation of rising stars such as Lucky Daye. Over the years, the Grammy award winner has delivered bodies of work that have not only seen a wide range of success but continue to inspire singers and songwriters to come.

This year, the “Confessions” singer’s hustle earned him a nomination for “Best R&B/Soul Male Artist” at the 2021Soul Train Awards. Usher’s work and contributions to today’s sound makes him a top contender. So in honor of the nomination, we’ve gathered a list of times an artist sampled the R&B crooner.

  • Summer Walker “Come Thru” (with Usher)

    Not only did Summer sample Usher’s Soul Train Award-winning and Grammy-nominated track but she had some help from the originator of the song himself who was also featured in the music video.

  • Ro James “Last Time”

    The Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter made his return to the music scene following a brief hiatus with the flip of Usher’s 2004 slow jam “Can You Handle It?” off his 2004 album Confession (Expanded Edition).

  • Dvsn “Between Us” (feat. Snoh Aalegra)

    The Canadian R&B duo sampled Usher’s classic track “Nice & Slow,” off the singer’s sophomore album My Way.
