New Jersey Police Looking For Woman Who Hung Nooses Near Sign For Black Congressional Candidate

The suspect was seen on surveillance video.

Police in Middle Township, New Jersey, are looking for a woman who hung nooses near campaign materials for a Black Congressional candidate.

According to CBS News, on Tuesday (Nov. 8), a woman was seen on surveillance footage hanging three stuffed dolls from nooses on a tree above a campaign sign for Tim Alexander. He was running to represent New Jersey's 2nd Congressional District.

Middle Township mayor Tim Donohue released a statement saying, "This is not who we are in Middle Township. We stand united against all forms of racism, hate, threats and intimidation."

He added, "The MTPD has launched an immediate and thorough investigation into this potential hate crime.”

The woman was described as white, with blond hair. The vehicle in the surveillance images appears to be a Buick. See the image below:

Alexander said in a statement, “I don’t know if this woman will ever understand the impact of that. This person has pulled me back to an era that’s long gone.”

Alexander lost the race to incumbent Republican Jeff Van Drew.
