College Dining Hall Employee Fired For Writing 'N****r' On A Black Student's Receipt
Here's who the school says was responsible for the slur.
A student employee of a University of North Texas dining hall was fired after using a racial slur to label a Black student’s receipt.
Chelsea Shaw, a communications major, posted a receipt she received from the campus’s Krispy Krunchy Chicken.
Shaw circled where the slur was placed instead of her name
Shaw’s post went viral and several other students joined her by tweeting at UNT President Neal Smatresk for answers
Hours later, Bill McNeace, executive director of Retail Dining Services, said the student-employee who wrote the slur was a cook and has been fired
“We found out that it was not the cashier, it was actually the cook who did it. The cook came out and apologized to the manager,” McNeace in an interview with North Texas Daily.
“The cook, though, his employment has been terminated. As soon as we found out, we let the person go.”
Eventually, University President Neal Smatresk posted a statement to Twitter regarding the incident
