You Need This Rare Footage of Prince and Kendrick Lamar in Your Life

Two gods, side by side.

Rare footage of Prince and Kendrick Lamar performing together has surfaced!

In a rare, little-known occurrence, the two hit the stage at the “Purple Rain” singer’s Paisley Park estate in 2014 in celebration of the release of his albums Plectrumelectrum and Art Official Age. The pair performed “What’s My Name” from Prince’s 1998 Crystal Ball album.

The event was live-streamed at the time, however no archived footage was known to exist until a fan group released video.

After Prince’s death, K Dot revealed that he and the Renaissance musician hit the studio together prior to To Pimp a Butterfly. No actual songs were recorded, according to Lamar, but he described the meeting as worthwhile.

Prince passed away on April 21 at his home in Paisley Park in Minnesota. He was hospitalized on April 15 after his private plane made an emergency landing in Illinois. He had been fighting the flu, however things seemed to be looking upward as he threw a party at his estate just a day after returning home from the hospital. He was 57 years old.
