Oprah's Former Co-Star Comes To Mo'Nique's Defense After Netflix Boycott Backlash

The actress also vouches for the comedian's character.

For the most part, since her initial urge for her fans to boycott Netflix went viral, Mo'Nique's battle to get justice has been a lonely one with very few public figures coming forward to voice their support.

Now, however, following the lead of India.Arie, one of Mo'Nique's Almost Christmas co-stars — who's also worked with the comedian's current enemy, Oprah Winfey, in the past — is speaking out in her friend's defense.

Kimberly Elise, who worked alongside Winfrey in the 1998 drama Beloved, recently took to Twitter to share that Mo'Nique is worthy of everything she is asking for regarding her low-balled offer from the streaming service.

In a tweet mentioning both Arie and Mo'Nique, Elise stated, "They want the #blackgirlmagic but have not wanted [to] pay for it."

  • She further went on to sing the Oscar-winning actress' praises when asked about her demeanor while they filmed Almost Christmas.

  • Mo'Nique wasted no time in thanking her former co-star for her kind words.
