Nick Cannon’s Ex Alyssa Scott Honors Their Late Son Zen’s ‘Heavenly’ First Birthday

The infant tragically died in December 2021 of a brain tumor when he was only five months old.

Nick Cannon’s former partner Alyssa Scott is paying tribute to her late son Zen on what would have been his first birthday.

On Thursday (June 23), Scott posted a video on Instagram featuring sweet moments with the infant, who passed away in December 2021 from a brain tumor at just five months old. The Wild ‘N Out host makes one appearance in the video.

“Happy heavenly birthday Zen. At the root of all the emotions I have today there is insurmountable love,” Alyssa wrote as the caption to the heartbreaking post. “I always try my best to remain positive but right now I can’t help but cry out ‘it's not suppose [Sic] to be like this.’ In my mind I can see him smashing his cake and crawling around, tugging at my legs. But the reality is I will be the one to blow out his first candle. I will be wishing he was still here with us. GO REST HIGH.”

A soundtrack of Vince Gill singing “Go Rest High On That Mountain” opens the video with Zen shortly after he was born. Alyssa cradles the sleeping boy in her arms. Another clip shows him smiling in a Mickey Mouse onesie from the Disneyland Resort.

Nick Cannon is currently expecting his eighth and ninth children with two different women in the near future.
