JayDaYoungan’s Dad Reveals Details About Son’s Fatal Shooting

The popular Bogalusa, L.A., rapper was ambushed while they were sitting on the porch.

Details in the fatal shooting of popular Louisiana rapper JayDaYoungan have emerged.

According to TMZ, his father, Kenyatta Scott, says they were sitting on the porch of their Bogalusa, L.A., home on Wednesday evening (July 27), when the deadly shooting took place.

Scott says a black truck pulled up to the front of the house and three armed people jumped out. He says he and his son attempted to run inside the house but two more gunmen approached the side firing weapons.

Scott mentioned that he was also armed, firing back at the gunmen in an effort to defend himself and his son. He was shot twice in the arm and the raaper was hit “at least” eight times, according to TMZ.

Jay, 24, was taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery but later died.

During the initial report, Scott was said to be in stable condition. He is still in the hospital.

Scott believes the motive of the shooting was jealousy due to Jay making it out of Bogalusa, L.A. Scott says Jay didn’t have beef with anyone and doesn’t think it had anything to do with gang-related activity and doesn’t think his son knew the gunmen.

Bogalusa Police Chief Kendall Bullen told TMZ that they’re still looking at all possible angles for the fatal shooting, including gangs and/or retaliation.

Details are still being sorted out, and cops have reason to believe there may have only been one shooter, which appears to align with reports Jay’s grandfather, L.C. Jefferson, says he’s heard in the neighborhood.

“There will be no stone left unturned until we find out who took him,” Jefferson told WDSU. “This is only what I hear. Someone came from behind the house with a ski mask on and gunned him down. In broad daylight, on a busy road. People have gotten so bold to where they think they can shoot someone down and not be caught.”

No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation.
