DJ Mustard Wasn't Dissing 'Classic Man' or 'Fancy'

He went on Hot 97 to clarify his comments.

DJ Mustard called out Jidenna and Iggy Azalea this week for stealing elements of the West Coast sound and profiting off of it with their singles “Classic Man” and “Fancy.” Of course, this is Twitter, and everything is seems to be always taken out of context. He went on Hot 97 to clarify his comments from earlier this week.

“They took it out of context what I was saying,” he says.“They tried to make it seem like I was the one hating. I’m not hating. How can you get any time of money from ‘Classic Man’…I’m speaking for the producers of ‘Fancy,’ and you are not even involved in the culture. You are not in the culture. If anybody should be suing anybody, we all should be suing somebody and I didn’t say I made it up either.”

Later on, Mustard says he has no problem with Janelle Monáe or Jidenna, but he still believes that the song is a “rip-off.” “I didn’t want to seem like I was just hating on them. I just felt like it was a rip and it is a rip. If it wasn’t a rip, you wouldn’t been doing this right now. You coulda been doing your own whatever sound it is.”
