DJ Mustard Claims 'Fancy' and 'Classic Man' Are 'Rip-Offs'

He also says the two parties are suing each other.

DJ Mustard has created a lane for himself with his signature sound, crafting hits for Tyga, YG, Jeezy and many more. In the past, the West Coast producer has talked about his issues with other people stealing his sound, but this time he’s called out Jidenna’s “Classic Man” for its similarities.

Last night, Mustard went on Twitter and sent a few tweets about the production of “Fancy” and “Classic Man.” It wasn’t too kind.

“The producers of fancy sued the n****s that did classic man, n***a suing for s**t they ain’t start …,” he wrote. “Fancy was a rip off …. Classic mans a rip off …. Str8 up ! The moral of the story is I haven’t sued nobody YET that’s like a n***a stealing a bike and selling it back. This is a west coast sound people from la all the way to the bay … I’m just one of the ones keeping it alive.”

Back in 2014, Mustard spoke to Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson about his problem with “Fancy” and why it doesn’t make sense for Iggy to go to other producers (The Invisible Men) to make his sound.

“I know Iggy. We know her. She used to be chillin’ with me, [Ty Dolla $ign], YG. She used to be chillin’ with us. She knows the sound,” he said. “She knows how hard we was working to make that sound and for you to go to somebody else or for you to do whatever you did, whatever they did and just be like, ‘Oh this is new and I don’t know why Mustard dissed...’ No. You know why.”

In more recent weeks, Janelle Monáe and Jidenna defended “Classic Man” and cleared the air about the rumors that Iggy is getting a cut off the record because it samples “Fancy.” “Some of the people have said Iggy Azalea is getting paid off this record,” Jidenna explained to Ebro in the Morning. “The truth is, we actually didn’t sample it. But ever since the decision of Robin Thicke and Pharrell, we believe that it was important to make sure that we are safe.”

After Mustard’s allegations, do you think he has a point? Or are people just getting inspired by each other?
