Brittney Griner Shuts Down Claims She Used Racial Slur Against Caitlin Clark

After a viral clip sparked speculation, Griner clarified she never called Clark a slur, saying she was frustrated with a foul call.

Brittney Griner has addressed allegations that she called Caitlin Clark a racial slur.

During a game between the Atlanta Dream and the Indiana Fever on May 23, Griner was visibly frustrated after being fouled for a sixth time.

When Griner was seated on the bench, cameras allegedly caught her saying something that many have  interpreted as “f**king trash” or “f**king white girl.”

On Sunday (June 15), Griner admitted being upset about the foul, but she couldn’t remember exactly what she said on the bench.

“I remember fouling out, being mad. I really can’t remember what I said, honestly,” Griner explained.

“Then the reporter asked Griner if she called Clark a racial slur, and she emphatically said, “No.”

“I would never say that. Like, there’s no place for that in our league. I wouldn’t say that,” Griner said. “I was mad about the call. I know it wasn’t that because I wouldn’t use that type of language.”

Although there is no audio, the video clip went viral, with many alleging that Griner was referring to Clark.

Journalist Jemelle Hill chimed in and came to Griner’s defense.

“I get that your whole personality is caught up in stuff like this, so you don’t care about spreading misinformation,” Hill wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

1) The foul call made on her had nothing to do with Caitlin Clark. It was because she fouled Natasha Howard. 2) She clearly says “trash” and “fucking WACK CALL”, her post continued.

“But carry on with your grifting a**.”
