Ariana Grande Enlists 2 Chainz For Her “7 Rings” Remix After Cultural Appropriation Backlash

“I made a new friend.”

At the stroke of midnight, Ariana Grande kicked off February with a surprising bang. The pop songbird finished releasing her trifecta of singles, a week prior to the debut of her sixth studio album, thank u, next. Ari’s latest drop, “7 rings,” had many dragging her by her ponytail for cultural appropriation, especially the fans of southern-bred emcees, Soulja Boy and 2 Chainz. Aside from the obvious melodic tune of The Sound of Music’s classic, “My Favorite Things,” Ari’s lyrical flow and visual aesthetic mimicked Young Draco’s “Pretty Boy Swag” and Tity Boy’s infamous Pink Trap House. The “It’s A Vibe” rapper even called her out on Instagram after his mentions were set ablaze.

However, both parties have turned all that smoke into profit because Ari snatched him up for the song’s remix. Yesterday afternoon, the “imagine” songstress tweeted, “tonight @2chainz” with a series of emojis, including the song’s signature diamond ring.

  • Hours later, Ariana let the world know she “made a new friend.”

  • The internet was torn, but felt the collab made perfect sense.

  • While others would've preferred to have Ari's longtime collaborator, Nicki Minaj on the remix

  • Meanwhile, one fan summed up all the drama perfectly...

Either way, Ariana was the one able to have the last laugh.
