Terrell Owens Advises DeSean Jackson to Hold Out \r \r

The fourth-year receiver is set to make just $600,000 this season despite being one of the top targets in the game the last two seasons.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson is getting some holdout advice from an unlikely source.

Former Eagle receiver and always controversial Terrell Owens went on Philadelphia’s 97.5 The Fanatic on Tuesday and said he would not play for the Eagles this season if he were in Jackson’s shoes. Jackson, the Eagles' top wideout, is being grossly underpaid in the final year of his rookie contract at $600,000 this season.

Jackson is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons.

"I would have to better myself and my family and my situation,” said Owens, who shares agent Drew Rosenhaus in common with Jackson. “That's ridiculous."

Owens himself is just looking for any kind of deal these days. The 37-year-old veteran is a free agent hoping to catch on with a team once he has finished rehabbing his torn ACL.

But Owens is right that Jackson is taking a major risk playing this season under the final year of his rookie contract. He initially held out but reported to camp late.

"I guarantee you — if he goes out and gets hurt, God forbid, he's not going to get the contract that he probably would have gotten if he held out," Owens said.
