Serena Williams Pays No Attention to Body Shamers

The tennis pro says she has better things to do than listen to the haters.

Throughout her career, Serena Williams has not only had to keep her opponents in check, but also keep her haters at bay. Thankfully, the tennis pro has championship after championship to help silence the negative comments. You’d think those comments would be in regards to her performance, but since Williams's record is untouchable, they’ve turned to shaming her body. In a recent interview with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, the 33-year-old athlete said she has better things to do than to give any time to the critics.

"If I get caught up looking at all the negatives, then it could really bring you down," she said. "And I just don’t have time to be brought down. I have too many things to do. You know, I have Grand Slams to win, I have people to inspire and that’s what I’m here for."
Williams is no stranger to hitting the gym hard and if her latest fashion spread in New York Magazine is any indication, her body is a complete work of art! She tells Roberts that having a strong body should still be considered beautiful and we agree: having a tight, toned and muscular body is gorgeous and empowering.
"I love that I am a full woman and I’m strong and I’m powerful and I’m beautiful at the same time," she said. "And there’s nothing wrong with that."
