BET Awards 2023: 5 Decade-Changing Fashion Trends of 2010
It’s hard to believe that 2010 was 13 years ago – it feels like just yesterday.
With the turn of a decade comes the turn of fashion trends, from creative cut-outs to platform pumps.
Scroll below to see 5 decade-changing fashion seen at the 2010 BET Awards.
Chevron Pattern
Queen Latifah was seen sporting this silver and black chevron jacket, a design that would soon blow up as the 2010s pattern. Her on-stage look was just the beginning of this decade-long trend. Seen on everything from handbags to phone cases, chevron was the ultimate statement for any 2010s look.
One-Shoulder Dresses
The chokehold the one-shoulder dress held on us in 2010 could be hard to replicate in the future. Embellished with brooches or puff-sleeves, the one-shoulder was a look that seemed to flatter every shape and size, making it both versatile and fashionable.
Bold Belts
Nothing snatched you more in 2010 than a bold belt! These chunky accessories worked to suck-in your shape, creating an effortless hourglass figure on almost anybody. These were styled with everything from mini-dresses, to long t-shirts.

Floral Print
Another classic, yet timeless look is the floral print. Instead of the dainty daisies we know today, 2010 was all about making a statement. Clothing pieces were covered in large, brightly-colored flowers to show off fashionable femininity.
Mixed Metals
Grunge flair arguably took over the 2010s, with trends from studs and spikes, to grommet holes and chunky belts. Ciara rocked her shoulder-padded black lace mini dress that was covered in gold metal lace-up accents and a matching gold belt.
