The gospel group and record label Maverick City Music exploded onto the scene in 2018 and hit the ground running after collecting accolades including an award for “New Artist Of The Year” and “Album Of The Year” at the 2021 Stella Awards.
With countless number of singers, songwriters, and just talent filled people, the community of worshippers is spearheaded by its founders Jonathan Jay and Tony Brown as they set out to make the gospel genre a safe space for all to participate.
As a result of their efforts and contribution, Maverick City Music was nominated for “Best Gospel/ Inspirational Award.” Ahead of this year’s event here are some facts you need to know about this year’s nominees.
They started off as a duo
The musical collective was founded in 2018 by CEO of Tribe Records Jonathan Jay and friend Tony Brown. Since then, they have added a number of new members including Chandler Moore, Brandon Lake, and Naomi Raine just to name a few.
They’ve made strides in other industries
Mainstream pop artists including Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendez have both spoken on the music geniuses that is Maverick City Music.
Their debut full length project soared beyond expectations
The group released their first ever full length album titled Maverick City Vol. 3 Part 1 in 2020. Soon after, the project landed them at No. 6 on Top Christian Albums and No. 2 on the Top Gospel Albums Chart.
