Houston Neighborhood Targeted With Racist Fliers
Less than a month before an election in Harris Country, an are of Houston, Texas, a neighborhood is reeling after white supremacist flyers were found on their car windshields and front doors of their homes.
According to CNN, William White, director of operations at the Houston chapter of Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said the flier is titled "2026: A Race Odyssey” and reads "Think about it! At the current rate of decline, what will America's major cities look like in ten years?"
The flier also included a racist caricature of African-Americans and a web address for people to visit. At least four residents received the hateful fliers.
White, who did not reveal the name of the neighborhood for safety reasons, told CNN, "I do believe that this is about voter intimidation. There's no place for that in the city."
The next election in Harris County is March 1.
CNN also reports, in November, another Houston neighborhood was targeted with racist fliers.
FBI Houston Field Office said in a statement to CNN, “The FBI Houston Field Office is aware of the incident involving the distribution of white supremacist flyers in a Northwest Harris County neighborhood and we are in regular contact with local authorities. FBI policy prohibits confirming or denying an investigation. However, if during the local investigation, information becomes known of a potential federal civil rights violation, the FBI is prepared to investigate.”
