Former NFL Player Saousoalii ‘Junior’ Siavii Found Dead In Prison
Former professional football player Saousoalii ‘Junior’ Siavii reportedly passed away on Thursday (January 13) while awaiting trial at a Kansas prison.
According to NBC News, the 43-year-old former defensive lineman was found unresponsive at the United States Penitentiary in Leavenworth, which prompted staff to initiate life-saving measures and request emergency medical services.
A statement shared by the Federal Bureau of Prisons on Friday revealed Saivii was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Saivii was detained at the Leavenworth prison on December 17, 2021 after being indicted for illegally possessing firearms.
From American Samoa, Siavii played his college ball at the University or Oregon and was defensive tackle in the NFL for the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and Seattle Seahawks. It isn’t clear what his line of work was after leaving the NFL in 2011.
