Wendy Williams Breaks Down In Tears After Getting Blasted For Comments About Nelly's Rape Accuser

Social media went off.

Over the weekend, Nelly was accused of rape by a fan, and nearly everyone had an opinion, especially Wendy Williams. On yesterday's show, she appeared to blame the alleged victim and Twitter dragged her.

  • "If she did not put herself in that situation, this wouldn't have happened. Young lady, you've got to stay out of tour buses," Wendy said yesterday. Nelly was arrested for the alleged rape that reportedly took place on Friday night in Washington, D.C. following his performance on stage with Florida Georgia Line. The St. Louis rapper denied the allegations.
Now, Wendy is in hot water and she addressed her comments at the start of today's show. "It's never an easy job sitting here in the lavender chair by myself with nobody to bounce off of. Sometimes I might say something that you don't understand, but I am the girl to cop to it." She continued, "Maybe cavalierly you caught my comments, 'You got to watch where you go.' I didn't mean anything by it," and then Wendy began to cry. "What I meant is, once upon a time there was a girl named Wendy and she was only 13 years old but looked like a woman." Wendy showed at young picture of herself.
She explained when she would visit her grandfather in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he would send her to a pool hall to get cigars and "those men in there were disgusting." She added, "All I'm saying regarding young women and I apologize if my message was met with callousness. But what I meant to say is young ladies, we should be able to go wherever we want to go, but we always have to know where the exits are.  We always have to have our $20 bill, just in case. And we have to be aware. That's all I was saying, I apologize."
We'll see if this will calm down the firestorm. See how Twitter reacted to her comments from yesterday.
