Kim Kardashian Has A Message For Everyone Offended By Her Aaliyah Costume

She's not staying silent about this controversy.

Kim Kardashian took a couple Halloween boos. And by boos, we mean Twitter thought her costumes were basura.

For the holiday, Kim K dressed up as Aaliyah, whose legacy and depiction is so sacred, even Drake was forced to back TF off trying to do any posthumous album with her masters. Let’s just say that, aside from the fact that Kim is white, it just wasn’t the smartest of ideas.

Now, Kardashian is apologizing. She took to her app to respond to the controversy.

“Aaliyah was such an amazing singer and she will forever be a music legend. I saw online that some people thought my costume was in poor taste and I am truly sorry if that offended anyone,” she relayed through the app. “When I was creating the costume, I wasn’t dressing up as a race or culture but rather as a woman whom I will always admire. I play every kind of genre of music in my home and I like for my kids to be exposed to many different artists.”

Kim also says the costume was a tribute and likened it to Kourtney’s Michael Jackson costume.

“For me, it’s always about love and respect,” she continued. “I loved that Kourtney was Michael Jackson for one of her costumes, and that my son was Axel Rose. We don’t see color in my home. We were paying homage to people and artists we love and respect— it’s that simple!”

People were also disappointed Kim Kardashian dressed up as another late songstress. She emulated Selena Quintanilla and kind of clumsily did a rendition to "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom," of which she new little of the song’s lyrics.
