Well, we didn’t see this coming. A major horror movie franchise is being rebooted by comedian Chris Rock at the helm, and it’s not a match we would have ever predicted.
According to Deadline, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures announced on Thursday (May 16) that they have partnered with Rock to expand the world of Saw, the iconic horror movie series that has raked in well over a billion dollars over 15 years and eight films. In fact, production has already started, with a new film scheduled for an October 23, 2020 release.
"I've been a fan of Saw since the first film in 2004," Rock said in a statement. "I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really insane and twisted new place."
