Vic Mensa's Cypher Verse Dragged Every Abusive Rapper To Hell, And Fans Are In Shambles

"Only time you bear arms is in a wife beater, loser/Your favorite rapper's a domestic abuser..."

Published October 16, 2018

Vic Mensa’s allegedly controversial and highly anticipated BET Hip Hop Awards cypher aired on Tuesday night (Oct. 16). The fiery bars sent the internet into uproar because many presumed those statements about “domestic abusers” and “being respected posthumously” were direct jabs at late Florida-bred emcee XXXTentacion. In actuality, his scorching cypher name-dropped Everyday Struggle co-host DJ Akademiks and threw shots at Bronx native 6ix9ine.

He never intended to disrespect the mother of the slain rapper, but he “vehemently rejects” normalizing abusers within the hip-hop community and will continue to hold all abusers accountable, himself included.

While he and many of his fans stand by his comments, some still aren’t here for it and feel his words went too far. Check out his full cypher below and fans’ divided reactions.
