Nipsey Hussle would have been 34 on Thursday (Aug. 15). As tributes and memories for Slauson’s fallen angel poured in across social media by Nip’s fans and loved ones alike, R&B megastar Beyoncé joined the chorus of those who raised their voices to eulogize him.
Taking to Instagram, the “Everything Is Love” songstress penned a stirring tribute honoring Nipsey via Instagram. In the post, Bey shared a black-and-white portrait of the late rapper calmly gazing into the distance.
“The marathon will be televised for N.I.P. ’cause true kings don’t die, we multiply, peace,” the moving quote reads, pulling from Jay-Z’s lyrics on the hip-hop couple’s joint record “MOOD 4EVA,” which featured on Bey’s executive-produced The Gift album.
“Happy Birthday in paradise,” she concluded at the end of the post.
One day after his passing, Bey took to social media where she expressed her grief at his sudden loss and sent her condolences to Nipsey’s loved ones. “I’m praying with every ounce of my heart for your family. Rest In Peace, Nipsey,” she wrote on April 1 alongside re-sharing a childhood photo of the rapper.
The post was filled with some of their final special moments they shared together with a salute to Nip’s spirit attached.
"Today We celebrate You my beloved. Today we honor you King. We are to live in our highest vibrations today because that is how Nip lived his life. We should encourage and inspire today because that is how Hussle lived his life. Today we should love and give truth because that is how He lived his life," she wrote.
"His Purpose still lives on with us all. Ermias wasn’t a sad soul. He was a powerful strong magical soul. Today is the day we lift up. Long Live My other half. My beloved King. Ermias. Nip Hussle The Great! I miss you. I love you. Still here holding it UP!"
