Ahead of the upcoming presidential election set to take place on November 3, Cardi B is opening up about her decision to vote for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden

  1. Though she originally supported Sen. Bernie Sanders’ bid for the Oval Office (he ultimately dropped out of the presidential race in April), Cardi sees Biden as the nation’s best bet and the strongest option to ensure that Donald Trump doesn’t win a second term.

“I want a president who makes me feel secure. I want a president who understands the pain of the people. I want a president who is going to give us answers,” she explained to Elle

Speaking about Trump, Cardi provided rational reasons as to why the nation is better off voting for a Biden/Harris ticket.

  2. “Those people that he caters [to], he’s not going to do anything for them. It’s not like Republicans are getting better housing. It’s not like Republicans are getting better benefits. They’re not. He’s not doing anything for anybody. He’s just saying things that appease the same people.”

She also praised New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s leadership in his handling of the coronavirus outbreak in her home state in comparison to the Trump administration. “I like him because he makes me feel like he’s listening to me,” she said. The “WAP” rapper also underscored the importance of people voting in local elections as well.

“You can vote for DAs. You can vote for mayors. You can vote for your district,” she said. “Not everything is the president. You know what I’m saying?”

  3. Last week, Cardi B appeared on The Breakfast Club where she revealed  that she has spoken with Joe Biden privately, though she didn’t disclose the exact nature of their conversation.

“What I’m saying is that I know him,” she clarified. “I always felt like Biden balanced Obama because I thought he was conservative and that’s what swayed the conservative votes, the ones in the middle. Knowing him and everything, I think he’s getting it and I think he understands the people’s pain. He’s getting what we want. People think we want so much, but we want really simple things if you really think about it.”

Cardi added she cautioned the former vice president to listen to the needs of real people, saying, “I tried to let him know like, listen we don’t want no false promises. We don’t want no fake s**t to get people voting. This is what we want. Please make it happen.”
