Here’s Why Kid Cudi Thinks Pharrell May Never Work With Him Again

Don't worry — it has nothing to do with Kanye.

In October 2016, Kid Cudi checked into rehab for "depression and suicidal urges." Surrounded by his friends, Kanye West and Pharrell and a host of others, he made a triumphant return to music at ComplexCon that year alongside the iconic "Happy" rapper-producer.

Lately, he's dropped a joint album, Kids See Ghosts, with Ye and retreated back to his bubble of solitude. The album was him choosing light as opposed to his noted life in darkness. However, in a recent interview with GQ, Cudi made a jaw-dropping statement about his relationship with Pharrell.

  • “I don't know if Pharrell will work with me again," he stated regarding his 2016 album, "Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin'"

The duo worked on “Flight at First Sight/Advanced,” “By Design,” featuring André 3000, and the album’s biggest single, “Surfin'." Yet, according to Cudi, "those songs didn't do what they were supposed to do. The label didn't do the right thing.”

  • Thankfully, there was no mention that their working relationship isn't affected by Ye's political agenda.

We are typically our own worst critics, and though the single didn't chart on Billboard's Hot 100, it was featured on TV shows and video games. However, the internet hopes this isn't the end, because their collabs are fan-favorites.
