Ronald Greene Autopsy Discredits Police Claim That He Died From Crash Injuries

The 49-year-old was killed during a high-speed chase in May 2019.

Ronald Greene did not die of injuries from a car crash, as his family suspected.

According to a preliminary report, in May 2019, Louisiana State Police claimed Greene, 49, died due to an auto accident after a high speed chase. The initial police report did not mention state troopers used force or an arrest.

The LSP’s report said two officers pursued a vehicle being driven by Greene following an attempt to pull over Greene for an unspecified traffic violation and the pursuit ended when Greene crashed his vehicle.

In May of 2021, video obtained by the Associated Press showed Greene’s door opening and a taser going off. "OK, OK," he is heard saying. "I'm sorry. I'm scared. Officer, I'm scared. I'm your brother. I'm scared."

An officer approaches Green’s car with his weapon drawn. "Let me see your f*****g hands m****rf****r."

After being tased, Greene can be heard moaning while still on the ground and being put in handcuffs by an officer while another kicks him several times. One cop can be heard saying, "I've got blood all over me, I hope this guy ain't got f*****g AIDS," as Greene continues to moan. Greene is also dragged at one point in the video.

Now, according to the Associated Press, a reexamined autopsy ordered by the FBI denies Greene died due to a car crash after a high speed chase. His death is cited as “a series of factors, including troopers striking the 49-year-old in the head, restraining him at length and his use of cocaine.”

The report also states that even though the air bag didn’t work when the car crashed, that was not the reason why he had a fractured breastbone and ruptured aorta. Most likely, he developed those injuries from life-saving efforts by first responders, the report stated.

Ronald Greene’s mother, Mona Hardin, told the Associated Press she hopes the report brings justice “so I can put my son to rest.” Additionally, even though it has been over two years, she has not been able to bury his cremated remains, “This thing has been so crazy. No one has properly grieved.”

It’s unknown if charges will be filed against the police officers involved in Ronald Greene’s death.
