Past BET Hip Hop Awards Performers With Podcasts
We’re now in an era where celebrities across all fields are taking control of their narratives by selecting which media outlets to talk to. In many cases, these professionals are starting their own podcasts.
We’ve seen it with “SuperThug” artist NORE, and DrinkChamps, Two-time NBA Champion, Kevin Durant, has done well with his show, The Boardroom, and although not a podcast, Nicki Minaj has Queen Radio on Beats 1 with Apple Music.
With the BET Hip Hop Awards 2021 around the corner, here is a look at past performers who have podcasts of their own.
T-PAIN
The Florida native has hosted, performed and won at the BET Hip Hop Awards, has platinum plaques and is the godfather of the sound we’re hearing dominate right now.
In that regard, the success of his podcast, "Nappy Boy Radio" really shouldn’t be a surprise either.
The show features T-Pain’s fun, crazy and in-your-face side, as he converses among friends and legendary artists about music, gaming, exotic cars, tech, and alcoholic beverages — you name it.
Questlove
The Roots’ drummer and avid lover of vinyl, Amir “Questlove” Thompson is the host of “Questlove Supreme” — an irreverent and educational weekly podcast.
Titled after the classic John Coltrane album called A Love Supreme, the show digs deep into the stories of musical legends and cultural icons with past guests that include Chris Rock, Michelle Obama, Kurtis Blow, and DJ D-Nice.
Joe Budden
While he’s retired, Joe Budden’s cypher at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards was one that sticks with you. From the second that Joe Budden declared himself “Hip-Hop’s Foster Child” in this cypher, it was clear that he didn’t come to play.
Not only was he the winner of Best Hip Hop Platform at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards, “The Joe Budden Podcast” has arguably been the authority of all things hip hop in the podcast space for the past half-decade.

Fat Joe
We all got a taste of how entertaining Fat Joe can be when his recap of the LOX/Dipset Verzuz went viral.
The reactions had many saying the Terror Squad frontman should have his own show. Well, he does “The Fat Joe Show”.
Streaming on Apple Podcast, the show really takes place on the rapper’s Instagram Live and is recorded and repurposed for the podcast platform.
Ranging anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half long, you can catch the Bronx rapper ranting on music, business, and more.
