Posted Dec. 5, 2008 – A New York City bus driver was stabbed to death this week allegedly over a $2 transfer, The New York Daily News reports.

Edwin Thomas, (pictured above), was punched in the head and stabbed in the chest several times on his busy Bed-Stuy route around noon on Wednesday, the paper reports.
The killer supposedly stabbed Thomas because he would not give him a free $2 transfer after already being permitted to ride for free.
Thomas was the first NYC bus driver killed in nearly 20 years, the paper reports. Ironically, he became a bus driver because he considered his previous job driving armored trucks too dangerous, the paper says.
