Writers On Ellen DeGeneres Show Accused Of Stealing Walmart Prank From Instagram Comedian

Funny Marco started reciting lyrics to shoppers but was not given credit on the show.

A viral video of writers on the Ellen Degeneres Show reciting song lyrics to strangers in Walmart has some accusing the show of stealing the prank from an Instagram comedian.

In the segment, several white writers on the show were sent to a Walmart and spoke the lyrics to popular songs such as "New Rules" by Dua Lipa to unsuspecting strangers. Some of the people in the video were thrown off the by the gag, while others exhibited more patience.

  • The video shared by Ellen received over a million views on YouTube

  • However, several months ago, the Instagram comedian Funny Marco started the same prank (Warning: some of the language used in the video is graphic)

While Marco does not have the same following as Ellen's pages, there were enough people to recognize the joke as his own.

  • Many slammed the writers for stealing the joke while others urged Ellen to invite the true creator of the prank on the show, as she has in past episodes

Funny Marco has not released a comment regarding the prank being used on Ellen's show.
