A 'Scandal' Star Has a Message for Donald Trump
The season premiere of Scandal may have been postponed due to Donald Trump's pre-inauguration special, but the show's villain, Joe Morton, still took to Twitter to deliver some special words to the new POTUS — seemingly as his character Eli Pope — and we hope he listened.
The actor highlighted to Trump in a video he posted to social media that he now is the voice of the people — not just those who share his personal views and sentiments, but everyone.
"Three hundred million. That is the number of people you are responsible for, Mr. Trump," he said in the video. "Not the number of voters — the number of people. There is a difference. One hopes it was the people who compelled you to run for office in the first place. You decided to run. Yes, you won, but it can never be about you — it must always be about the people. All the people."
He went on to further remind him that America's diversity cannot be ignored no matter how much he tries to conceal it.
"America is not just white men," he said. "If the deck is stacked against anyone, you can never be the white-man-in-chief, because everyone in the entire country is worth saving. Everyone. Mexicans, Muslims, gays, the handicapped, people of color, poor people, women. Everyone in this country is worth saving."
His closing words perfectly summarized everything he said, making it clear that Trump's job is to promote inclusion now that he is president: "In the face of darkness, Mr. Trump, it is your responsibility to drag everyone into the light."
