BET Awards 2023: Celebrating the Top 5 Victors of Last Year's Spectacular Ceremony

Album of the Year
Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak of Silk Sonic added yet another accolade to their repertoire when they accepted the award for “Album of the Year.”
The r&b and soul duo were up against several challenging projects, including Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, Tyler, the Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost, Jazmine Sullivan with the deluxe version of her comeback album Heaux Tales, Mo’ Tales: The Deluxe, and more.
Best New Artist
Latto took home bragging rights as the 2022 BET Awards “Best New Artist” recipient, betting out several talented acts, including Baby Keem, Benny the Butcher, Bleu, Muni Long, and breakthrough Afrobeats star, Tems. Actor Idris Elba presented the award.
Best Actress
Primetime Emmy Award-winning actress Zendaya has been thrilling to watch onscreen over the last few years. During last year’s show, she was awarded “Best Actress,” for her performance as Rue in HBO's Euphoria, beating stars including Queen Latifah, Regina King, Issa Rae, and many more. Paula Patton presented the award.
Best Movie
King Richard was the film to watch in 2022. The biopic told the inspiring story of Venus and Serena Williams’s father and coach, Richard Williams, portrayed by Will Smith.
The film also stars Saniyya Sidney, Demi Singleton, Aunjanue Ellis, Jon Bernthal, and more.
Best Actor
Will Smith’s tearjerking portrayal of Richard Williams earned the actor several accolades including “Best Actor” at the BET Awards. The performance would also earn him his first Academy Award for the same category.
