Soulja Boy Claims 50 Cent Copied Him Back In The Day, And 50’s Response Is Surprising

The "Crank That" emcee also stated that he's outsold Michael Jackson...

Let Soulja Boy tell it and he'd probably say he birthed a nation. As of now, though, the 28-year-old has only claimed that he birthed the culture. In case you haven't heard, Soulja kicked down the door of 2019 by sparking a hilarious war with Tyga, Kanye West, Meek Mill and Drake. The mid-2000's icon declared he had "the biggest comeback of 2018" after his hostile beef with R&B superstar Chris Brown in 2017.

Since resurging as a viral sensation, the "Pretty Boy Swag" phenom has been on a press run to remind everyone of his cultural contributions. Most recently, Soulja chopped it up with legendary radio host Big Boy and had a mouthful to say on his net worth, his past accolades and what's currently happening, thanks to him. While mentioning how pop songstress Ariana Grande jacked his flow on her new single, "7 rings," he popped up a fun "fact"— his infamous debut smash, Crank That, outsold Michael Jackson's Thriller.

  • Fans immediately called bullsh*t.

  • Soulja asked Big Boy and his team to "Google the facts," and speaking of which, we did some research. The King of Pop's Thriller is the world's best-selling album. Even though Soulja is worth $30 million, the alleged 15 million ringtone sales that he claims certified "Crank That" as Diamond doesn't mean that he outsold Thriller, which has actually achieved Diamond status. According to Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), "Crank That" is only certified Platinum. However, both the Thriller album and single sold more than Soulja's debut.

  • Later on, he says that 50 Cent is another emcee who "copied him, too"

Fif's media site, This Is 50, was directly inspired by souljaboytellem.com, his now-defunct blog. Funny enough, Soulja was right. The Queens native co-signed the claim. Many believed it was just another loose statement that Fif would savagely troll.
