A 10-year-old Missouri girl was celebrated after her mother delivered a baby girl with her help.
The North County Fire & Rescue honored the brave girl named Miracle on Facebook after she stepped up to assist her mother in delivering her baby sister after the woman into labor three weeks early.
“An absolutely, amazing, wonderful, feel-good story out of Jennings this evening! Stay tuned to ALL the news channels tonight and tomorrow for video. But for now, let us tell you a story about our local HERO, Miracle!”
“Miracle's mother went into labor October 23rd, three weeks early, and she knew she needed help. But she probably never thought that help would come from her 10-year-old daughter, daughter, Miracle.”
The post continued, “She had Miracle dial 9-1-1, and what happened next was nothing but sheer awesomeness! Thanks to the calm, cool, and collected voice from the 9-1-1 dispatcher, Scott (Stranghoener), with Central County Emergency 9-1-1, Miracle was able to help coach her mom through delivery of her newest baby sister, Jayla. Miracle followed all of the instructions given to her over the phone, and when mom didn't cooperate, she broke out her own "mom voice"! When baby Jayla arrived, Miracle was there with a towel to wipe off her face and to help stimulate her to cry and keep her warm until paramedics arrived.”
“A few short minutes later, CHEMS and North County Fire & Rescue was on the scene to help take over and get mom and baby to the hospital, safe and sound. Tonight we celebrated our local HERO! She earned a special certificate and a personalized shirt from CCE911, a pink stork pin (that EMS providers typically receive after delivering a baby in the field) and another special certificate from CHEMS, and from NCFR she received a tablet loaded with educational games and a special journal to document all the amazing things she has done and will do! Baby also received some gifts! A personalized onsie, a new outfit and a pack'n'play! We would be remiss if we didn't mention another important person to this story...Taylor! Taylor is now a big sister herself! She was also bestowed with some great gifts! “
The post concluded, “This beautiful family of four certainly has a great story to tell over the holidays! NCFR could not be more proud than to have such an amazing family in our community! We wish you all the absolute best! Thank you for letting us share in such an amazing time for all of you!”
The heroic 10-year-old girl proudly smiled in the photos as she held her Baby Jayda.
Christian Hospital paramedics also honored Miracle.
