UPDATE: BET has made an announcement of four acts that will participate in the 2016 BET Awards Prince tribute. Sheila E., The Roots, D'Angelo and Janelle Monae will be among those taking the stage in honor of the iconic musician. The celebration will be spread througout the show, and will "capture the unprecedented career and musical genius of the beloved pop icon like only BET can," the network's press release reads.

The 2016 BET Awards goes down on June 26, live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The show will be hosted by Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, and other performers of the night include Maxwell and Alicia Keys.

2016 has not been kind to legends, but few losses have hit us as hard as the death of Prince on April 21. While fans, and authorities, have been struggling to make sense of why he died (the medical examiner officially concluded last week that it was from an overdose of "self-administered fantanyl," a powerful painkiller he reportedly took to ease his hip and ankle pains), BET is focusing on celebrating his incredible life and unparalleled contributions to music.

BET's highly-anticipated tribute to Prince will go down at the 2016 BET Awards on Sunday, June 26, and at Saturday night's Prince Party in Brooklyn, NYC, BET's President of Programming Stephen Hill announced to the excited crowd that he'll soon reveal at least some of the stars who will be performing in the tribute.

Hill promised the crowd of Prince fans that he'll share the big news on Tuesday, adding to the spirit of celebration in the air:
