The 2019 Creative Arts Emmy Awards was this past weekend, September 14-15, in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, the Nike "Dream Crazy" ad featuring Colin Kaepernick won best commercial beating out entries from Apple and Netflix.

The ad was produced by veteran Nike ad agency Wieden+Kennedy. Kap had a role in the creative process and, according to the report, is excited about the win.

The commercial features Kap doing voice-over with lines, like:

"Don't picture yourself wearing [Odell Beckham's] jersey. Picture OBJ wearing yours."

"And, if you’re a girl from Compton, don’t just become a tennis player. Become the greatest athlete ever. Yeah, that’s more like it."

Kudos to Nike and Kap.

Clearly the initial backlash from the Kap-Nike partnership and ad campaign didn’t impact the vision and goal of the ad campaign.
