Zendaya Pays Homage to Naomi Campbell's Iconic 2004 Louis Vuitton Campaign

The "Euphoria" star didn't wait for Thursday to give us an iconic throwback.

It's no secret that Y2K style has made a powerful resurgence this year, and Zendaya's latest recreation is more proof.

Teaming up with her longtime stylist and creative director, Law Roach, they decided to pull from the archives for a meaningful look during Paris Fashion Week. Roach took to Instagram to post a photo of his muse striking a pose in an elevator while holding a vintage Louis Vuitton Theda PM handbag.

The purse was the same one that supermodel Naomi Campbell showcased in the French luxury fashion house's spring/summer 2004 ad campaign. The photo quickly went viral, with many people praising Campbell's timeless beauty and style. The image also sparked a discussion about the importance of vintage fashion and the power of honoring timeless moments created by Black supermodels.

In 2004, Campbell paired her handbag with a Louis Vuitton gold top and gold underwear as she effortlessly posed with the picturesque desert as her backdrop. Zendaya's iteration included low-rise denim jeans and strappy white sandals after attending their spring/summer 2024 runway show.

Both Naomi Campbell and Marc Jacobs, who was Louis Vuitton's creative director then,  commented on the post showing all the love with Campbell commented with several red heart emojis, and Jacobs wrote that the post "made his day."

Zendaya arrived in a white-hot Louis Vuitton gown designed with a plunging neckline and an intricate zip-up construction for the runway show. The gold chain straps and cascading train only added to the Oakland native's allure.

In April, it was announced that Zendaya would be the Louis Vuitton house ambassador. Along with the exciting reveal, the brand unveiled a new campaign promoting its iconic Capucines bag, featuring Zendaya, US Weekly reports.

Over the years, Zendaya has taken her rightful place as a fashion icon. Since she and Law Roach became a dynamic duo, it's been a series of beautiful fashion moments. From the multicolored Bulgari number she wore to the 2021 BET Awards (that Beyonce also wore to the 2003 awards show) to the custom green Vera Wang ensemble she donned to the 2019 Emmys, Zendaya can literally do no wrong in the style department.
