KKK Flyers Found in Georgia Yards

Newnan, Georgia residents recently found a KKK recruitment flyer on their front lawns.

Residents in a Suburban Georgia town were in for a surprise when they recently found, not the daily paper, but a flyer recruiting for the Ku Klux Klan in their yard.

The flyers were left in plastic bags in a Newnan subdivision. It featured a drawing of a Klan member in a hood and read, “Neighborhood Watch: You can sleep tonight knowing the Klan is awake!”

When residents found the flyers, they were outraged. “We do not approve of anything like this and sure don’t want you in our neighborhood,” resident Billie Duykaa told the local television station, FOX 5 News.

Frank Acona, leader of the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, said the flyers were not meant to intimidate, but to educate.

“I’ve had hundreds of calls to the Traditionalist American Knights hotline thanking us for the flyers we put out, telling us they appreciate us, and that makes it all worthwhile,” he said.

Across the country, hundreds of new cases of racism and racist intimidation have arisen. A few months ago, a Black baby doll was found hanging by its neck from a metal chain in the Bronx headquarters of New York City’s Parks and Recreation Department. Nearby, "KKK" was found scratched on a bathroom wall. Prior to that, a former Defense Department employee filed a lawsuit alleging her white supervisor hung a stuffed ape from a noose in her office, and, last year, a member of the National Guard found a noose outside his army barracks.

Experts tell that many white Americans feel as if they are losing their country to people who don’t look like them — a feeling exacerbated by the presidency of Barack Obama.

The Georgia residents notified the police, but were told the flyers were not against the law.
